• Emerald Ball 2012 The Ireland Fund of Japan's Emerald Ball event is The Premier Irish Event in Japan. Its annual occurrence establishes it in the local calendar as the only way in which to enjoy the St.Patrick's Day weekend. As part of the global St.Patrick's Day Festivities it enables its patrons to become Irish for a day and be entertained in a way that only Irish can.
Its proceeds, on this the 20th anniversary of the ball, were all directed to Tohoku, following the tragic events of last year's earthquake and tsunami.
In order to represent all of these factors I was tasked with making a new logo and brand collateral. This took the form of posters, admission tickets, ballots, and naturally a Facebook and website presence.
The logo itself, shares with its previous version a similar characteristic - its imperfect orientation. The 3 degree skew reveals a message that although its a precious stone its not perfect. For all those out there who aren't in perfect situations, they are still precious and should be regarded as such. This is what the Ireland Fund and its main fund-raising event, the Emerald Ball does.

  • Orla Murphy CD Booklet/Case Work produced for Orla Murphy, jazz vocalist in London. Used to help promote her new tour in Spring 2012, the design is a revision of a previous version. Warm colours combined with dream-like arrangements of light and energy, reflect both the musical influences of funk and disco while emphasizing the nostalgia for a period in Murphy's past, the past that lead her to pen the lead song, Timeless.     2012 Art Direction, Graphic Design, Typography
  • Jacob's Creek Solway 1837 Launch Produced for Pernod Ricard China, through their agency Emotion/Publicis China I and my team at Wedovideo supplied the contents and motion graphics for the on-screen visuals during the event.

  • Zoolook.me Promotional Video Promotional video for Zoolook, a new social media application and site.
The video was produced to maximize the small budget that was afforded and so instead of one video I managed to produce smaller segments within a single narrative that could be taken out and used in a stand-alone context.

  • Sanofi Aventis New Vision Campaign In the wake of the Great Tohoku Earthquake of March 2011, there were massive changes taking place in the private sector. After the economic collapse suffered since the 'Lehman Crash' the pharmaceutical companies have proven themselves as the economic giants of our time. In times like these after the earthquake, the tsunami and the radioactive fallout in Northern Japan, the company realised they needed to engage in motivating their staff all around the company and indeed the country of Japan.
The outcome, having gone through a number of renditions, was to extol the virtues of the Japanese people and for them to find solace in each other in order to work past one of the most unforgettable hardships the country has suffered in many years.

  • STEP EIKEN This collection of work represents the effectiveness of amiable relations. I've been able to maintain working with this client despite having moved from the original job at Nichiai for what must be around three years now.
By working in tandem with those at the organization and providing consultation when required I've been able to not only maintain a steady flow of work but also grow my social network; evidence if there need be of the power of working for those with similar values and erstwhile goals as yourself!

  • Nichiai Creative Identity Rebrand My first role as a leader in design, was at Nichiai Creative. This was a small creative shop with big ambitions. I came into the fray when I arrived in Tokyo and secured a managing role in the creative department.
After dealing with what was primarily locally run businesses and representative offices of foreign companies or embassies I had built up a calibre of work that was worthy of representation that reflected the quality that I had now established.
Two years into my tenure here I decided that it was time to shed the skin of that I believed was holding us back in favour of something that was relevant, authentic and commanded attention. It was time for a step change. This project covers the changes that occurred to the main Nichiai creative identity.

  • BLCCJ Products in Japan Guide The BLCCJ (Belgian & Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Japan) required a publication that would list all of the products available in Japan through the many international markets and stores all around the country.
I designed this 80 page booklet in around three weeks. The deadline allowed for intense and cooperative interaction with the client but the end result was to both of our satisfaction. Even now this piece of graphic design is still one of my favourites.
